By now you have read my co-hosts list, if not you need to. Like all great movie show hosts, we don't always see eye to eye on our favorite films. This is because,as my co-host and friend will attest, film is a personal experience.
A film that has touched me on a personal level might have done nothing for him, and vise versa.

Internet critics, I urge you as you make your top of 2009 list, do not pick movies that are popular or you think the masses will like. Do not pick a film that's the in thing right now, pick films that speak to you...films that define who you are. Don't worry about how people are going to react, because this is how you get the most honest list.

Now it's time to see if I practice what I preach as I present my top films of 2009:

10. The Hunt For Gollum:
Is it fair to put short films on a best of 2009 list? Well what about fan films? It is when that 40 min fan film is one of the most amazing films I have seen this summer. I originally thought about Moon for this slot, but as much as I loved Moon it's core story was basic. I thought about Star Trek, but although it's one of the best Blockbusters I have seen this decade...it's not as smart as Kahn or other entries in the series. Gollum is smart, visually stunning and it has staying power. What? You don't believe me? Look for yourself. http://www.thehuntforgollum.com/

9. Johnny Boy-
Why would a ultra low budget student film make this list? Well depends on the factors and here's what all went into this one. You have a former local wrestler who owns some camera equipment, you have a script that feels like it was written by Guy Ritchie...oh and did I mention this local wrestler is a master of parkour? When you look at all the factors you have one of the best ultra low budget films of the decade.

8. Blood River- Stay tuned for our show with Adam Mason to know more

7. FAQ'S About Time Travel- Screw you Hangover, this is the funniest comedy of the year hands down.

6. Inglorious Basterds- People have talked about Tarantino's love affair with film in relation to this film, it's a little more than that. You look at Triumph of The Will, Das Blaue Licht (actually you could probably say anything from Leni Riefenstahl) it's obvious the passion the German people had for film. There is a great short...I guess you could call it lecture on the IB DVD/Blu Ray where the great Elvis Mitchell talks about German cinema in relationship to IB. I recommend checking it out because it will make you realize how amazing this film really is.

5. Bronson- Nicolas Winding Refn's amazing film that spends more time taking you into the psyche of Michael Peterson AKA Bronson then dealing with actual events. Tom Hardy pulled off the best performance of the year.

4. World's Greatest Dad- There was a girl in high school who was a total bitch, no one really liked her. When she died though, she suddenly becomes a saint. Much like Sleeping Dogs Lie, leave it to Bobcat to take sensitive subjects and make them both hilarious and moving.

3. Antichrist- suffering from the loss of a child, this film hit home. There were elements I found in this film that were unique only to me. I wish I could sit down and watch this film again, but I need a break from it's power.

2. The Hurt Locker- This is such a different war then anything we have dealt with in the past. This becomes even more apparent when your war moves start to follow the same structure a police drama would. Hurt Locker was an amazing film and only one of two that I gave a standing ovation to this year. (WGD was the other)

1. Men Who Hate Women (Män som hatar kvinnor)- In the states they call this film The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo but the original title fits this film so much better. Lisbeth Salander spends this film trying to overcome her distrust of men, while helping Mikael Blomkvist, a middle-aged investigative journalist who is about to go to prison for libel as they track down the niece of a wealthy dynasty. This is a shocking detective film, with a lot of heart
