Ok, I deem it impossible to make a list of my favorite or what I feel is the best overall films of the past decade (though the decade is not over for another year), so I am instead focusing upon what I feel are films that effected me the most emotionally. I'm not just talking about romance here, I am talking about raw emotion. Enjoy!

Runner Up: Watching the Detectives (2007)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472205/

This film had to make it on the list. There was something special... almost magical about this movie. While viewing Watching the Detectives, the viewer gets brought back to the raw emotion of falling in love all over again, including the mystery and the doubts.

10. Big Bang Love/ Juvenile A (2006)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497876/

Though the most experimental film I have ever seen of Takashi Miike, it does not hinder (but in fact enhances) the sensual aspects, even under the pressure of a very violent prison system and self-destruction.

9. Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477139/

Love can be found even in the most desperate of situations. Paths cross, go other ways and end up in the end in perfect harmony. I have watched this film more times than I can count.

8. Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152758/

This was the hardest documentary I have ever watched, but my life would not be complete if I did not sit down and hear the tragic story told by a documentary director chronicling his best friend's life, and the horrific things that transpired in the process.

7. Alexandra's Project (2003)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338706/

This masterpiece by Rolf de Heer scared me more than I can put in words. Alexandra is no longer happy in her relationship with her husband. On his birthday she leaves him a videotape that will forever change how he defines himself as a person.

6. Let the Right One In (2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/

A coming of age story that uses vampire lore to illustrate the search for personal freedom children desire.

5. Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790627/

Based off of David Foster Wallace's book of the same title, this movie shook my foundations. Heartbreakingly insightful. If I say any more I will be ruining this masterpiece.

4. Sympathy for Lady Veneance (2005)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451094/

Her daughter has been taken away and she has been forced to take the fall for a murder she did not commit. Through her journey to demand the retribution only payable by death, she learns about herself and the human condition.

3. Jeaux d'enfents/ Love Me if You Dare (2003)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364517/

I was incredibly lucky to see this highly uplifting film in theaters, an experience I will never forget. The film is incredibly magical.. but nowhere near touches the next one on the list.

2. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/

This is single-handedly the most romantic film of all time. Jeunet is a major player in the game and probably one of the most influential directors in the history of romance.

1. This is England (2006)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480025/

This is England was a coming of age story like no other. I related to that kid incredibly well. A boy grows up with not much money and nothing to say for his family life and finds a group of people who will take him in, showing him the ropes in life, morals, love, sex, happiness and sorrow. The movie has stuck with me more than any other movie I have seen from this decade, which is why I designated this as my number 1 spot.
